Delivery driver cover letter example
A delivery driver cover letter should give your licence categories and record first, then your drops a day and how you plan a route, and the early starts and peak weeks you can cover. Keep it to four short paragraphs.
Fictional letter from Lee Bishop, the applicant in the delivery driver cv example. Every person and employer in it is invented.
Why each paragraph is there
I am applying for the 7.5-tonne Delivery Driver role at Wentworth Larder Foods. I hold a full UK licence with categories B and C1 and no points, and my Driver CPC card is up to date. I have five years' experience on multi-drop parcel and grocery routes around Doncaster and Sheffield.
Licence, record and Driver CPC first: a transport manager cannot shortlist without them.
At Swiftline Parcels I deliver 110 to 140 parcels a day on a set route, keeping my on-time rate above the depot target. I load the van in drop order each morning, check the vehicle before setting off and record every failed delivery on the handheld tracker.
Drops a day, loading and vehicle checks, the measures every depot uses.
Before that I delivered chilled and frozen shopping for Fresh Basket Supermarkets, checking substitutions with customers at the door, so I am used to keeping food at the right temperature and to talking to customers.
Experience that fits a food delivery job in particular.
I can start early, work weekends and cover the Christmas peak. My CV is attached. Thank you for considering my application.
Availability, the CV and thanks.
