Electrician cover letter example
An electrician's cover letter starts with your card and qualifications, then the kind of work you do (domestic, commercial, EV chargers) and that you test and certify every job. Say whether you have your own tools and van.
Fictional letter from Owen Jenkins, the applicant in the electrician cv example. Every person and employer in it is invented.
Why each paragraph is there
I am applying for the Approved Electrician post at Severn Bridge Electrical. I hold an ECS Gold Card and the 18th Edition, completed my Level 3 apprenticeship with the AM2 in 2021, and have nine years in the trade.
Card, qualifications and years: the things a contracts manager checks before anything else.
At Taff Valley Electrical I carry out about two full rewires or consumer unit upgrades a week in people's homes, and fit out shops and offices with containment, lighting, small power and data cabling. I test, inspect and complete the electrical installation certificate for every job, and I hold the Level 3 in inspection and testing.
Domestic and commercial work, and the testing that every job ends with.
Since 2024 I have installed EV charging points and smart heating controls and registered them with the scheme provider. Your growing EV charger work for housing associations is the work I would most like to do more of.
A newer skill, and why this firm.
I have my own tools and van, and I cover emergency call-outs on a one-in-four weekend rota. My CV is attached. Thank you for considering my application.
Tools, van and call-outs, then the CV.
