Why each paragraph is there

  1. I am applying for the Junior Sister post on the Surgical Assessment Unit. I am a registered adult nurse, NMC registered since 2023, with three years on a 30-bed general surgery ward.

The post, your registration and your current ward.

  2. I lead the care of six patients a shift, from assessment and care plans to post-operative observations, IV medicines and discharge planning with community teams. I escalate deteriorating patients to the surgical team and support student nurses as a practice supervisor; I have supported eight students through their placements.

Clinical scope and leadership evidence against the person specification.

  3. I lead our ward's monthly falls prevention checks, and falls fell from nine to four a quarter over the last year. I would like to bring the same approach to a busy assessment unit, where safe, quick decisions matter.

    A quality improvement with a before-and-after number.

  4. My CV is attached. I would welcome the chance to discuss the post and to visit the unit. Thank you for considering my application.

The CV, a visit and thanks.
