Europass-style CV template

A Europass-style CV uses the headings of the European Commission’s Europass CV: about me, work experience, education and training, language skills rated on the European A1 to C2 scale, and digital skills.

Use it for jobs, study or volunteering in Europe when an employer asks for a Europass CV or expects its layout. This is our own Word file in that style; Europass has no connection with this site.

Before you use it

This is our own Word file in the Europass style, not a CV made in the Europass builder. If an employer or programme asks for a CV made there, use the builder itself: Europass keeps your profile and makes CVs in 31 languages. When you apply from abroad, write your phone number with +44, as this example does.

See the Modern design on its own page or compare one CV in all eight designs.

How to use this template

01

Use the Europass headings

Work experience, education and training, language skills and digital skills: an employer who asks for Europass expects to find them under these names.

02

Rate each language on the grid

Give a level from A1 to C2 for listening, reading, spoken interaction, spoken production and writing, using Europass’s self-assessment grid. Find your level on the grid

03

A photo only where it is expected

Europass suggests a professional photograph; UK employers do not expect one, so add it only where the employer or country asks for it. The Modern design has an optional photo you can add in the editor.

04

Newest first, gaps explained

Europass asks for reverse date order and an explanation for any long gap in work or learning.

If the employer asks for a particular file type, a page limit or an application form, do what they ask, even where this page suggests otherwise. CV format and file types explains the choices.
