Cyber security cover letter example
A cyber security cover letter shows judgement in a few lines: the systems you protect, one incident and how you handled it, the certifications and clearance you hold, and why this team. Never name a client or its weaknesses.
Fictional letter from Nathan Cole, the applicant in the cyber security cv example. Every person and employer in it is invented.
Why each paragraph is there
I am applying for the Cyber Security Analyst role in your ICT team. I work as a security operations analyst at Severnside Secure, where I monitor 40 client networks in Microsoft Sentinel and Defender and run monthly vulnerability scans.
The role, your current job and the environment you protect.
Earlier this year I handled a phishing attack that reached 12 mailboxes at one client. I reset the accounts, blocked the sender and closed the incident within four hours, then wrote the phishing playbook our team now uses.
One incident: what happened, what you did, how fast.
I hold CompTIA Security+ and the Microsoft Security Operations Analyst certification, and I completed the Cyber Security Technologist Level 4 apprenticeship. I would like to protect one organisation's services in depth, and a council's mix of public services and older systems is the work I want.
Certifications, then why this employer.
My CV is attached, and I am happy to complete any background checks the role needs. Thank you for considering my application.
What is attached; readiness for vetting.
