Software developer cover letter example
A developer's cover letter is short: the role and your stack, one thing you built and what it changed, how you work (tests, reviews, on-call) and why this product. Hiring managers read it for judgement more than keywords.
Fictional letter from Daniel Kowalski, the applicant in the software developer cv example. Every person and employer in it is invented.
Why each paragraph is there
I am applying for the Software Developer role on your patient booking team. I have four years' experience building a booking platform used by 1,200 gyms and studios, working in C#, .NET and React.
The role, your experience and the stack that matches.
I built our waiting-list feature, which now fills about 9,000 cancelled places a month, and moved the payments service to a queue, which cut failed bookings at peak times by 60%.
Two things you built, each with what it changed.
I write tests first and review pull requests every day; coverage on our booking API rose from 48% to 81% while I worked on it. I am also on the on-call rota and write up each incident with its fix and follow-up.
How you work, with evidence.
Booking a clinic appointment is a harder problem than booking a class, and I would like to work on it. My CV and GitHub link are attached. Thank you for considering my application.
Why this product, then what is attached.
