Waiter cover letter example
A waiter or waitress cover letter should say how busy your restaurant is, how many tables you look after, that you know the menu and allergens, and when you can work. A restaurant manager reads it in under a minute.
Fictional letter from Luca Romano, the applicant in the waiter cv example. Every person and employer in it is invented.
Why each paragraph is there
I am applying for the Head Waiter role at The Lace Market Grill. I have three years' experience in a busy Italian restaurant and a hotel restaurant, and I look after a section of six to eight tables on services of up to 120 covers.
The role, and the size of the services you work.
At Trattoria Lucca I take orders on a handheld till, explain the menu and check allergens with the kitchen for every order that needs it. I recommend wines and desserts without pushing, and the average spend per head in my section is above the house average.
Allergens, which every restaurant must get right, and a sales result managers notice.
When a guest is unhappy I deal with it at the table and fetch the manager when it needs more, and I keep my section moving at a calm pace on the busiest nights. I would like to take that further as a head waiter, and your grill's focus on steak and wine suits the service I enjoy most.
Handling complaints, the step up to head waiter and why this restaurant.
I can work evenings and weekends, including Christmas parties. My CV is attached, and I would be glad to work a trial shift. Thank you for your time.
Availability and the trial shift most restaurants ask for.
