How to write yours

01

Lead with people, not coffee

Starbucks says you need no previous experience, only a passion for bringing joy to customers. Lines about helping customers, remembering regulars and busy shifts matter more than knowing coffee.

02

Give your availability

Store hours can include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and holidays. Put the times you can work on the CV, and say if you can do more in the holidays.

03

Keep it up to date

Starbucks’ own tip for a better application is an up-to-date CV, as much relevant information as you can give, and contact details checked twice.

04

Show you learn quickly

Every new barista starts with training in the store. A line showing you learned a till, an opening routine or a product range quickly tells the manager the training will stick.

Questions about a Starbucks CV

Do I need a CV to work at Starbucks?

For a store Starbucks runs, have one ready. Its adverts list a CV review after the application, and its careers FAQs ask you to make sure your CV is up to date (Starbucks, checked 18 October 2026).

Do I need barista experience?

No. Starbucks says you don’t need previous experience to join as a barista. Every store partner starts with an introductory training programme in the store, led by its trainers and coaches (Starbucks barista advert).

Why can’t I find a vacancy for my local Starbucks?

It may be run by a licensed partner. Some UK Starbucks stores are run in licensed partnership with other operators, and their vacancies are not on Starbucks’ careers site; Starbucks suggests visiting the store to find out how to apply (Starbucks).

How long will Starbucks take to reply?

For a store role there is no set time: the store’s manager reviews applications when they are recruiting, and your application stays valid for 60 days. Every unsuccessful applicant is told by email or phone. Support centre roles can take up to three weeks (Starbucks).

Can I apply to more than one store?

Yes. You can apply to any store that interests you, and to more than one role at a time, and hiring managers nearby may see your profile even if you did not apply to their store (Starbucks).

Can Starbucks sponsor a visa?

No. Starbucks cannot sponsor visas, so you need the right to work in the UK before you apply. Our guide shows how to put your right to work on your CV (Starbucks).

Keep it to one page. A barista CV with your current job, your studies and the hours you can work is everything a store manager reads before inviting you in.
