How to write yours

01

Tailor it to the advert

Asda asks for a CV tailored to the role. Its adverts list the qualities they want, such as customer-focused, team player, reliable and willing to learn: give each one a line from your own experience.

02

Explain the gap

If you have been out of work, say so in one line with the dates and what you did: caring, volunteering or a course. Asda asks for significant gaps to be explained, and a line does it.

03

Leave out personal data

No date of birth, marital status or National Insurance number. Your name, town, phone and email are enough until Asda asks for more.

04

Put your most recent first

Asda asks for your most recent role at the start. A career break counts: put it first, then your last job.

Questions about an Asda CV

Do I need a CV for an Asda job?

Yes. Asda says to apply online and always upload a CV, tailored to the role, and to fill in all the details (Asda, checked 18 October 2026).

What happens after I apply?

Asda aims to update you within 10 days. Some roles have an online assessment or a short video interview. The interview with the hiring manager is about Asda’s values and the role’s key skills, in person or by video, and Asda aims to hold it one to two weeks after the closing date; some roles have an assessment centre. Asda aims to give feedback within a week of the interview (Asda).

I served in the Armed Forces. Will Asda interview me?

Asda guarantees an interview or assessment centre place to anyone who has served in the Armed Forces and has the essential skills for the role, except in Northern Ireland (Asda). Our armed forces leaver CV shows how to put your service into civilian words.

How do I prepare for the interview?

Re-read the job description, compare your CV with it, and think of a time you showed each of Asda’s values in a past job. Bring questions of your own: Asda calls the interview a two-way process (Asda).

What happens if I am offered the job?

Asda sends an offer letter and runs pre-employment checks before you start, and asks you to fill in its forms as soon as you can so your start is not delayed. Have proof of your right to work in the UK ready (Asda).

Keep the CV to one page for a store job. Asda reads it against the advert, so a page that answers each quality it lists beats a longer history.

CVs for other supermarket jobs

Asda asks for a CV for every job, so pick the example closest to yours and tailor it to the advert.
