How to write yours

01

Give month and year for every job

Lidl assesses the dates and details on your CV as well as your experience and hours. Give the month and year each job started and ended, and make sure they match what you type into the application.

02

Say when you can work

Lidl checks your hours against the role’s. End the CV with one line on your availability: full or part time, and whether you can do early mornings, evenings, nights and weekends.

03

Show the store work you have done

A customer assistant sets up the bakery, works the tills, fills shelves, keeps the store clean and helps customers. Give each one you have done a line, with a number where you have one.

04

Prepare an example from your CV

Lidl’s interviewers ask you to talk about your CV. Pick two or three lines from it and practise telling each as a short story: the situation, what you did and how it turned out.

Questions about a Lidl CV

Do I need a CV to apply to Lidl?

Yes. Lidl says you need an up-to-date CV to create your candidate profile when you apply, whatever the job (Lidl, checked 18 October 2026).

How long does Lidl take to reply?

Lidl reviews applications within 7 to 14 days and asks you to wait the full 14 before following up. If you are shortlisted, a telephone interview comes next (a video interview for graduate roles), then a face-to-face interview of 30 to 90 minutes with two interviewers asking set questions (Lidl).

What does the Lidl interview ask?

Three kinds of question. Competency questions, such as “Give an example of when you delivered excellent customer service.” Scenario questions, such as how you would prioritise when a colleague asks for urgent help in the middle of a task. Skills questions, such as “How do you ensure accuracy when handling cash at the till?” Some roles also have an online test (Lidl).

Can I use AI to write my Lidl CV?

For a first draft, the structure and the spelling, yes, Lidl says, but it can spot AI-written answers and wants to hear from you. It also warns against putting personal details into an AI tool. Our guide to using AI for your CV shows where it helps (Lidl).

Can I apply again if I am turned down?

For a different role, at any time. For the same role, Lidl asks you to wait six months. If you passed the interview but every vacancy was already filled, Lidl may invite you into its candidate community instead: it contacts you when a suitable role comes up, and for store and warehouse roles you do not have to interview again (Lidl).

Does Lidl check references?

Yes. A job offer depends on satisfactory references and, if Lidl asks for one, a satisfactory DBS check; some roles also have financial checks (Lidl).

Keep the CV to one page for a store job. Lidl reads it for your hours, your experience and accurate dates, so a short CV that gets those right beats a longer one.
