Cleaner CV example

A cleaner CV should show where you clean, what you are trusted with and that you turn up: the buildings or homes, the equipment and chemicals you use safely, any hospital or food-area cleaning, and keys or alarm codes you hold. Reliability is the first thing a cleaning supervisor looks for.

How to write yours

01

Name the places

Wards, offices, schools and homes need different standards. Say where you clean and how big the area is.

02

Show you can be trusted

Keys, alarm codes and working alone are trust. Give them their own bullet.

03

List your training

Infection control, COSHH and manual handling training with years show you clean safely.

04

Give your hours

Cleaning jobs are often early mornings or evenings. Say exactly when you can work.

Checks and qualifications to mention

  • No set entry requirements. You need to show that you are reliable and able to do the job (National Careers Service). Attendance and keyholding are your best evidence.
  • Background checks. The National Careers Service lists enhanced background checks for this job, which hospitals, schools and care settings ask for. If your DBS certificate is on the Update Service, say so.
  • Hospital work. Experience in a medical setting helps for specialised cleaning (National Careers Service). Put ward or theatre cleaning first if you have it.

One page is plenty. A short CV with your places, hours, training and keyholding answers everything a cleaning supervisor needs.
