How to write yours

01

Give clients and rebooking

Clients a week and the rebooking rate are how salons judge a stylist's following. Use your real figures.

02

Link your work

A social media or portfolio link in the header lets a salon owner see your cuts and colour before the trade test.

03

Name techniques and courses

Balayage, colour correction, barbering and extensions are separate skills. List the ones you are trained in, with the year.

04

Show training others

Training juniors shows you are ready for a senior or manager role.

Checks and qualifications to mention

  • Qualifications. The National Careers Service names the Hairdressing Professional and Barbering Professional Level 2 and Creative Hair Professional Level 3 apprenticeships, which take one to two years. Give your level and year.
  • Trade test. Salons usually ask you to cut or colour a model at interview. Be ready to show the techniques your CV lists.
  • Self-employed or chair rental. If you rent a chair, list it like a job with the salon name and dates, and say you are self-employed.

One page. The Creative header suits salons; keep your portfolio link in it so it is the first thing a salon owner can click.
