Nanny CV example

A nanny's CV is read by parents, so it should be warm and exact: the families you have worked for, the children's ages, what a day with you looks like, and your paediatric first aid, background check and driving. This example is a nanny with six years with two families and a nursery before that.

How to write yours

01

Give ages and set-up

For each family, the children's ages, how many and whether you had sole charge tells a parent at once if you fit.

02

Describe a day

Routines, meals, school runs and play in a few bullets let parents picture you with their children.

03

Checks in one place

Paediatric first aid, DBS, Ofsted registration and driving belong together where parents see them.

04

Keep families private

Write 'Private family' and the town, not the family's name or address.

Rules and checks for a nanny CV

  • Background checks and age. The National Careers Service says you need to pass enhanced background checks and be over 18.
  • First aid. Most nanny jobs need a paediatric first aid certificate (National Careers Service). Give the course and year.
  • Ofsted. Registering with Ofsted is voluntary for nannies but may help you get more work (National Careers Service). Say if you are registered.
  • References. Families usually call previous families. Ask them first; you do not need their details on the CV.

One page in a calm, plain design. Parents read it at home, often on a phone, so keep each family to three or four bullets.
