Project manager CV example

A project manager's CV is a list of delivered projects: what each one was, its budget and team, what you did when it went off track, and how it ended. Give your method and qualification once, then let the projects prove them. This example is an IT and digital project manager with seven years in housing and healthcare.

How to write yours

01

Give every project its numbers

Budget, team size, dates and the result. Without them a project reads like a task.

02

Show one recovery

Employers hire project managers for the day the plan slips. Name one time it did and what you did.

03

Method once, proof everywhere

State agile, PRINCE2 or your own method in the profile, then let the bullets show it working.

04

Speak the sector's language

A housing, NHS or construction project manager is hired partly for knowing the sector. Name it.

Checks for a project manager's CV

  • Qualifications. The National Careers Service names the Association for Project Management and the Project Management Institute as professional bodies, and apprenticeships from Level 4. Give each qualification with its year; none is required by law.
  • Confidential figures. Use rounded budgets and percentages if exact contract values are confidential.
  • Length. Two pages are normal with several years of projects; keep the most recent in full and summarise older roles.

The Compact design fits seven years of projects on one page. With more, move to two pages rather than shrinking the type.
