Internship CV example

An internship CV puts your degree first, with your predicted or current grade and the modules that fit the job, then shows what you have done outside your course: a part-time job, a society role, a project with a result. Keep it to one page. This example is a second-year Economics student applying for a summer internship in finance.

How to write yours

01

Education first, with marks

Give your current average or predicted grade and two or three modules that fit the internship.

02

Society roles are experience

A treasurer, events or captain's role gets an entry like a job, with a number in it.

03

Keep the part-time job

Twelve hours a week alongside a degree shows time management, even if the work is unrelated.

04

One project with a result

A piece of coursework or a personal project with a clear outcome shows how you would work in the team.

Rules and checks for an internship CV

  • Pay. An intern who counts as a worker is entitled to the National Minimum Wage. The exceptions include a placement of under a year that your UK course requires, and work shadowing where you only observe (GOV.UK, checked 9 October 2026).
  • Grades. Write predicted or average grades as they are, and update them after each exam period.
  • Application forms. Many large employers use an online form instead of a CV; keep this CV for the form's upload box and for smaller firms.

One page in a plain, classic layout suits graduate recruiters in finance and law. Use the space for marks and results, not a long profile.
