Actor CV example

An acting CV is a list a casting director can scan in seconds: your details and agent, then credits grouped by theatre, screen and audio, then training and the skills you could be cast for.

It is not a work-history CV, so there is no long profile. This example is an actor two years out of drama school.

How to write yours

01

Credits, not duties

Each line is role, production, venue or company, director and year. Bullet points about what you did do not belong here.

02

Group by medium

Theatre, screen and audio in their own lists let a casting director go straight to the one they cast.

03

List only skills you could do on camera

An accent or instrument here may be asked for in the room. Keep it to the ones you would perform tomorrow.

04

Agent first

If you have an agent, their name and number go at the top; casting calls them, not you.

Rules and checks for an actor's CV

  • Equity. To join Equity you need to have earned money from acting, or be a student or graduate (National Careers Service). Give your membership if you hold it.
  • Agents. Agents usually charge commission on what you earn (National Careers Service). Read the agreement before you put their name on your CV.
  • Headshot and showreel. You can give showreels and headshots to agents and casting directors (National Careers Service). Send them as the links or files a casting call asks for, not pasted into this CV.

Creative and one page: the coloured header carries your agent, and credits sit in clear groups a casting director can scan.
