Product manager CV example

A product manager's CV shows outcomes, not features: what the product is, which problem you worked on, how you decided what to build and what changed for users and the business.

Hiring managers look for the evidence behind your decisions and how you worked with a team. This example is a product manager who moved across from business analysis.

How to write yours

01

One line on the product

What it is, who uses it and how many: a hiring manager needs the scale before your results mean anything.

02

Outcomes over features

Say what changed for users or the business, with the period, rather than listing what was shipped.

03

Show how you decided

Research, data or a test behind a decision is what product interviews ask about; give one example.

04

Name the team

The size and make-up of the team shows the scope of the role without inflating your title.

Rules and checks for a product manager's CV

  • Routes in. You can come in through a degree and a graduate scheme, an apprenticeship such as the Digital Product Manager Level 4 Higher Apprenticeship, or a junior role in a digital team (National Careers Service), whose career story for the role runs from business analyst to product manager.
  • Courses. A specialist product management course is one way in without work experience (National Careers Service). Give the course and its length; you do not need a certificate for every job.
  • Confidential figures. Use percentages or rounded numbers where your employer keeps revenue or customer data private.

Modern and one page: a clear profile band carries the product and its scale, and the results stay in short bullets.
