Web developer CV example

A web developer's CV is read for the stack, the things you built and how you know they work.

Name the languages and frameworks you use now, give one result with a number (load time, data moved, bugs fixed), say how you test, and link code you are allowed to share. This example came in through an apprenticeship.

How to write yours

01

Name the stack you use now

List the languages, frameworks and tools from your current work first. A lead developer scans for them before reading anything else.

02

Give one number for what you built

Load time before and after, data moved, users served or bugs closed: one measured change says more than “built high-quality websites”.

03

Say how you know it works

Tests, code review and accessibility checks show you ship work that lasts. Name the tools.

04

Link only code you may share

A GitHub profile helps when it shows your own projects or open source work. Never link or paste a client's private code.

Rules and checks for a web developer's CV

How do people become web developers?

A degree in web development or computer science, a college course such as the T Level in Digital Software Development, or an apprenticeship such as Software Developer Level 4 (National Careers Service). Give the route, the level and the year.

Which job title should I use?

Front end developer, back end developer and full stack developer are other names for this job (National Careers Service). Use the advert's title in your profile if it fits the work you do.

What if I am applying for my first developer job?

You might start as a junior developer and train on the job (National Careers Service). If you are applying for that first job, put projects you built above work outside tech.

Modern and one page: the side column holds the stack and the GitHub link, where a lead developer looks first. Some application systems read two columns out of order, so keep the Plain version ready for online forms.
