Questions about a pharmacy assistant CV

Which pharmacy qualification should I list?

You could work in a pharmacy as a retail assistant and do a qualification part time on the job, like the Level 2 Certificate in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Support Staff (National Careers Service). Give the certificate with the year, or “in progress”.

Can I become a pharmacy assistant through an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships with a high street pharmacy or a hospital include the Pharmacy Services Assistant Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship and the Retailer Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship, and an intermediate apprenticeship usually needs some GCSEs, usually including English and maths (National Careers Service). Write your grades under Qualifications.

Can I apply with no pharmacy experience?

You can apply directly, and it can help to have experience in customer service, good reading, number and IT skills, and GCSEs or equivalent (National Careers Service). If this is your first pharmacy job, lead with your till and customer work.

Is a hospital pharmacy CV different?

You could work in a store, at a health centre or in an NHS or private hospital, and the tasks include delivering medicines to hospital wards and health centres (National Careers Service). For a hospital post, give your orders, deliveries and computer work a line each.

How do I show I want to train as a pharmacy technician?

With experience and a recognised qualification you could become a senior pharmacy assistant, supervisor or manager, and with further training a pharmacy technician (National Careers Service). If that is your aim, say so in the last line of your profile.
