How to write yours

01

Give your numbers with a year

Valuations a month, sales agreed and their total value are what a branch manager compares.

02

Show progression, not only offers

A sale counts when it completes; say how you keep buyers, sellers and solicitors moving.

03

Name your area

Give the towns or postcodes you know; local knowledge is part of what an agency hires.

04

Licence and Saturdays

Put your driving licence, car and weekend rota under Additional information.

Questions about an estate agent CV

Do estate agents need a driving licence?

You’ll need a full driving licence (National Careers Service). Put it in your contact lines or under Additional information, with “own car” if you have one.

How do I show promotion from negotiator?

You could work as a trainee sales negotiator or letting agent assistant and learn on the job, or start as an administrator and work your way up through training and promotion (National Careers Service). Give each step its own line, even at the same agency.

Which estate agency apprenticeships should I list?

You could do a Junior Estate Agent Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship, a Housing and Property Management Assistant Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship or a Housing and Property Management Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship (National Careers Service). List the apprenticeship with its level and year.

Should I list Propertymark courses?

You could take a course through an industry body like Propertymark or the Chartered Institute of Housing (National Careers Service). Give the qualification and the body, with the year.

Should I put my commission on my CV?

Estate agents often work on commission: a basic salary plus a percentage of the sale or rental price of any property you sell or rent (National Careers Service). Your sales figures show what you earned the branch; your own pay stays off the CV.
